The Water Holds What the Sky Releases

Sunrise No. 122
Sunrise No. 122

The horizon burns orange and softens to rose at its edges, while the water beneath stays dark, catching only the thinnest ribbons of that light. April's clarity is in how the two halves refuse to match, how the sky spends itself in color while the ocean remains cool and unconvinced below. The waves are small, textured, each one a small decision to move toward shore.

There is no drama here, only the steady work of light traveling across water. If you sit with this long enough, the separation between what glows and what stays dim becomes less important than noticing how they meet. The boundary line is not sharp. It never is.

Notice one surface today that holds light differently than the one beside it.
