No Feeling Lasts

Let everything happen to you: beauty and terror. Just keep going. No feeling is final.

The word "final" is the hinge here. We treat our moments as if they arrive to stay, as if sadness is a room we've moved into. But Rilke knew better. A feeling is more like weather, present and then gone. The practice is simple: notice what arrives without fighting it or clinging. Your chest tightens. Your breath steadies. Neither one owns you. Both move through. This is what it means to keep going, not with gritted teeth, but with the quiet knowledge that nothing settles here permanently.

Question for today

What feeling are you holding as permanent that might actually be passing through?

Practice

Name one emotion you felt yesterday. Watch it for thirty seconds without changing it. Notice it soften or shift on its own.
