Goodness Is Not a Debt
You do not have to be good. You do not have to walk on your knees for a hundred miles through the desert repenting.
Most of us arrive at the day already apologizing. We carry a small ledger of small failures, and the weight of it shapes how we move through hours. Oliver cuts through this. Goodness, she says, is not something owed. It arrives not as penance but as a natural response to being alive, aware, present. The knees stay unbent. The miles dissolve. What remains is simpler, lighter, already within reach.
Question for today
What would you do this morning if you weren't trying to earn your own forgiveness?
Practice
Name one small thing you did yesterday that was neither good nor bad, simply human, and let it be enough.
