The Clock Keeps Going
Quiet minds cannot be perplexed or frightened, but go on in fortune or misfortune at their own private pace, like a clock during a thunderstorm.
A quiet mind does not mean an empty one. It means a mind that has stopped negotiating with itself. This morning, notice what happens when you stop arguing with what's in front of you. A difficult email arrives; the quiet mind reads it once and waits. A plan falls through; the quiet mind adjusts, steady as the second hand, indifferent to whether the sky is clear or cracking. The work is simply to return, again and again, to that private pace that belongs only to you.
Question for today
What are you still trying to convince yourself about?
Practice
When you feel pulled into hurry, pause and count one full minute on your watch. Notice that time moves the same speed whether you rush or not.
