Little Time for Anything Else
To live is so startling it leaves little time for anything else.
The startling part is not the big moments. It is the way your hand knows the coffee cup before your mind does. The way a sound makes you turn. Dickinson means we are constantly interrupted by the sheer fact of being here, awake, present. There is no time for distraction because presence keeps arriving, unbidden. The work is not to find time for living. The work is to stop postponing what is already happening.
Question for today
What small thing startled you awake this morning before you had a chance to think?
Practice
Pause once before noon and name one sensation you notice in your body right now, without changing it.
