Present: The Only Wave

You must live in the present, launch yourself on every wave, find your eternity in each moment.
Henry David Thoreau

Eternity is not distant. It arrives each time you notice what is actually here: the particular weight of your body in this chair, the specific temperature of the air on your hands, the exact pitch of a sound you usually miss. Thoreau knew that the present is not a thin slice between past and future. It is thick. It contains everything. The work is simple: stop treating this moment as preparation for the next one.

Question for today

What is one small thing you are genuinely aware of right now, and what happens if you stay with it for ten more seconds?

Practice

Set down your phone and name one sensation in your body for every exhale until you have named five.
