The Work of Small Things
The real work of planet-saving will be small, humble, and humbling.
What does humble work look like? It looks like one person turning off one light. It looks like noticing where water pools in your yard and leaving it there for the insects. It looks like the gardener who tends the same patch of earth for thirty years without fanfare. Not the grand gesture, but the repeated, ordinary choice. Not rescue, but attention. The real work asks nothing of us except to show up, notice what needs tending, and tend it. Without waiting for permission or applause.
Question for today
What small, visible thing in your immediate surroundings needs tending?
Practice
Pick one small task that serves something other than yourself. Do it slowly, with full attention. Notice what changes.
