The Blooming Dark
To go in the dark with a light is to know the light. To know the dark, go dark. Go without sight, and find that the dark, too, blooms and sings.
Most of us arrive at morning already reaching for illumination. We want to see what's ahead, solve what's broken, name what we fear. But Berry suggests a quieter knowing: that darkness has its own texture, its own language. When you stop fighting it, when you let your eyes adjust and your breath find its own pace, something opens. Not insight. Presence.
Question for today
What are you trying to see that might be asking you to listen instead?
Practice
Close your eyes for one minute. Notice what your other senses offer; do not name it, only receive it.
