Everything Touches Everything Else
When we try to pick out anything by itself, we find it hitched to everything else in the Universe.
The breath you take this morning carries salt from yesterday's tide. Your small decision to pause connects to the light arriving, to the person still sleeping nearby, to the algae turning in the bay. Muir knew this not as metaphor but as fact. Isolation is the illusion we work hard to maintain. Notice instead how your attention, right now, pulls on the whole web. You cannot observe something without changing it. You are already hitched.
Question for today
What small thing are you pretending exists alone?
Practice
Sit for one minute and trace one breath backward, naming three places it came from before reaching you.
