When the Wall is Enough

This is the time to be slow, lie low to the wall until the bitter weather passes.

There is a kind of wisdom in not moving. Not the paralysis of fear, but the deliberate choice to sit still while forces larger than ourselves work through their cycles. A wall does not argue with the wind. It simply stands, absorbs, endures. This is different from waiting passively; it is an active form of attention, a refusal to spend energy on what cannot be changed. The body knows this already. It knows how to do nothing well.

Question for today

What would you stop trying to fix if you gave yourself permission to simply endure?

Practice

Sit for one minute and make your exhales twice as long as your inhales. Do this five times. Notice what slows.
