The Small Refusal to Hurry

Everything that slows us down and forces patience, everything that sets us back into the slow circles of nature, is a help.

Patience is rarely a feeling. More often it is a small refusal: the kettle left to reach its own boil, the email answered after lunch instead of now, the sentence you let someone finish. Each delay returns you to a rhythm you did not set. The body knows this rhythm already; it breathes without your permission. Slowness is not lost time. It is time handed back, one ordinary interval at a time.

Question for today

What are you rushing this morning that would arrive just as well if you waited?

Practice

Walk one slow lap of a room, barefoot if you can, letting each heel settle fully before the next foot lifts, and breathe out with every step.
